   The Springport Motor Speedway would like to thank the Charlotte Auto Dealers, Beacon Sales, Candy Ford and Team One Chevrolet, for their part in helping to promote their dealerships and the Springport Motor Speedway. These dealerships provided their customers and race fans with 3000 free tickets to enjoy an exciting night of short track racing at the Springport Motor Speedway. It was great that these dealerships came onboard for the evening and the staff and management thanks you.

   Trudging on through the rain, no sound system (temporarily), and multiple wrecks, the show must go on. The Boss Snow Equipment Pony Stock feature winner, Charlotte’s Todd Metz Sr. made it two in a row, putting a big dent in Jackson’s Edson Rowley III’s dominance. Rowley came home in second, followed by a steadily improving Bill McBride, of Lansing. Garry Sanfilippo and Steve Wrenn, both from Charlotte, rounded out the top five. Wrenn and Metz Sr. scored heat wins for the evening.

   And rain it did! The Pure Stock feature was slated to run next and a bad wreck, involving Lansing’s Ian Schafer, Holt’s Bryan Jenks, and Eaton Rapid’s Jordan Rodgers marred the 20-lap feature. A big thank you to Willie Trudgeon and crew for their efforts in the massive clean-up. In spite of the rain, Dimondale’s Kyle Drake drove into the Corrigan Oil Victory Lane, over Dansville’s Mark Carson, Spring Arbor’s Jonathan Smith, Concord’s CJ Ewing and Mt. Clemen’s Jimmy Tucker. Tucker was the highest finishing Front Wheel Drive competitor, taking the FWD heat win as well. Carson scored the RWD heat win.

   The Performance Automotive NW Sportsmans took to the track, with Mason’s Ian Sprague taking the lead on the green. Williamston’s Jordan Harvey made the pass on Sprague, with Okemos’s Steve Oberst in hot pursuit. Mason’s Scott Sigman made his charge to the front, challenging Oberst for the lead. Sigman took the win from his ninth starting position and thanked the track crew for a job well done. Oberst, Harvey, Leslie’s Nate Moon, and Dennis Roys (Dixie Motor Speedway) rounded out the top five. Sigman swept the evening by taking the Four Car Dash, while Roys won the heat.

   The Vavoline Instant Oil Change Modifieds saw Charlotte’s Bill Butler set fast time, but Hanover’s Earl Miles took the first heat win, leading all of the laps, while from just up the road, Springport’s Dale Eglon made his return and scored the second heat win. Miles scored the feature win (on his Mom’s birthday) holding off last week’s feature winner, Perry Davenport of Charlotte, Vermontville’s Leroy Ellis (the Wild Child 100 winner at the Spartan Speedway), Charlotte’s Dan Loughan (who worked his way to the front after starting from the rear twice) and Leslie’s Ken Buchner.

   The VROA feature saw Larry Mollohan hold off a hard-charging Samantha Jansen for the Vintage Racing Organization of America win and a trip to the Corrigan Oil Winner’s Circle. Lou Caposey, Rick Nelson, and Bob Martin came home third through fifth respectively. Fred Otterbien and Caposey took heat wins for the evening.

   Randy Kretzinger Jr. took home all the marbles for his win in the Spectator drags.

Saturday, July 12th is Greater Jackson Chamber Night featuring a 60-lap w/ pit stop Boss Snow Equipment Pony Stock and Pure Stock event, along with Performance NW Sportsmans and VROA.
