The ShortTrackTrucks.com Challenge series made its way to the high banks of Springport Motor Speedway, with thirteen trucks timing in to make the show. Justin Claucherty took top honors in the 6 Truck-6 Lap Dash, while Kyle Trinklein scored the heat win. Rod Morrison and Trinklein started on the front row for the 50-lap feature, but it was Claucherty who charged into the lead at the start. Claucherty held off Morrison and Keith Wioncek for 14 laps, until drifting high coming out of turn four and Morrision slipping under him for second. Shuryan was quietly weaving his way up through the field to sit in third by lap 14. As Morrison and Shuryan jockeyed for position, Claucherty began to pull away. Caution on lap 19 erased Claucherty\'s lead and on the restart, Morrison got a little loose and Shuryan capitalized, driving around him into second. Shuryan caught Claucherty on lap 21 and the rest is history. Shuryan cruised to win, as Claucherty managed to keep him in his sights, and Paul Schaffer, Morrison, and Doug Vander Vliet rounded out the top five.

The WMMQ Classic Rock 94.9 MI Modifieds ran the first 6 Car- 6 Lap Dash for Cash, ushering in the new leadership of Gary Fedewa, as Race Director. Dan Loughan cashed in on the first dash win and Steve Pastorino scored the Australian Pursuit win. These and other \'fun runs\' will be featured weekly at both Spingport and Spartan Speedways. Jon DeFord and Dave Goostrey brought the \'Mod Squad\' down for the start of their 30-lap feature. DeFord grabbed the early lead, with Dusty Carl hot on his trail. Brian Heeney, Dave Goostrey, and Chris Ozanich got down to business, as Carl took away the top spot from DeFord on lap six. Heeney made his way around Deford as well, with Ozanich using that high-groove to drive around both Goostrey and DeFord, bringing Larry Wallace along with him. Ozanich drove up alongside Heeney on lap 14, as Carl continued to drive away. Ozanich cleared Heeney and set his sights on Carl, catching him seven laps later. Carl didn\'t go down without a fight and Ozanich prevailed in the end. At the stripe, it was Ozanich, Carl, Loughan, Wallace and Heeney.

The Holiday Powersports Pony Stock division saw John Conroy make his way into the Winner\'s Circle for his first ever feature win at SMS. Conroy started third on the grid and made his way around Ashley Passick and Larry Surber Jr. soon after they came down for the green and was shown as the lap one leader. Brent McCort caught Conroy and was riding his bumper, trying to find a way around him. Lapped traffic came into play, as McCort pulled up on the outside of Conroy, forcing him to slow for cars running at the rear of the field on lap 13. Conroy battled back and nipped McCort at the line for the win. At the checker, it was Conroy, McCort, George Wyers, Patrick McNamara, and Randy Kretzinger Jr. Heat wins went to Surber Jr. and McCort.

The Pure Stock division saw Wayne Parkhurst II score yet another heat and feature win. Doug Patrick put up a good fight in the 10-lap feature but couldn\'t hold off Parkhurst. At the line, it was Parkhurst, Patrick, and Passick Sr. Parkhurst was later disqualified after failing post-race inspection and Doug Patrick was declared the winner.

A late addition to the racing program on July 1st, at Springport Motor Speedway, is the return of the Andrews Chevrolet Super Late Model division. After a two year hiatus, the Supers will hit the high-banked 3/8-mile oval. This is sure to be a crowd pleaser, so miss their return. Slated to appear is Chris Place, Harry Foote Jr., Jeff Finley, Bob Bauer, Stan Perry, and the list goes on. 18 drivers have made a commitment to appear with others pending. Also, mark your calendars for Racin\' and Rockin\' II on July 8th. If you missed last year\'s party, you won\'t want to miss this! First, we do some racin\' and then, the Basement Dogs hit the stage for some rockin\'. The drivers park their cars so fans can get up close and personal, and there promises to be good food and tons of fun.
