CCS Hosts Auto Value Bumper to Bumper SeriesSpringport, MI- Beautiful weather and action packed racing reigned supreme at Calhoun County Speedway. One of the largest crowds of the season filled the grandstands for the return of the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Series.First up were the Legends who drew for starting positions in the 24-car field. Krissy Kilbourn and Frank Jiovani made up the front row. When the green flew, Kilbourne jumped out in front to lead the first 10 laps of the 25-lap feature. Preston Dahl motored to the front from his ninth starting position and took over the top spot on lap 11. Kilbourne challenged Dahl with laps winding down but Dahl maintained the position. Jason Turnbull Jr. came home in third after a lengthy battle with fifth place finisher, Ryan Meldrum. Billy Simmons charged through the field, finishing in fourth from 20th spot on the grid. Heat wins went to Dahl, Simmons, and Jerry Warden. The MCR Dwarfs took to the big 3/8 mile with an 18-car field. Mike Hicks and Clyde Chapman Jr. lead the field to the green. Leading the charge out of turn four was Harold Mitchum Jr. while the rest of the pack made it four wide through turns one and two. Joe McManman took over the lead on lap 10, with Eric Hoffman shown in third from his eleventh starting position. Chad Goff advanced to second behind Hoffman, bringing along Jon Wylie on lap 11. Lap 15 spin set Hoffman, Wylie, and Goff up for a five lap shootout. Wylie faded with mechanical problems and with a last lap pass, coming out of turn four, Goff took the checker. Rounding out the top five was J. McManman, Mike McManman, and Harold Mitchum Jr. J. McManman and Hoffman took heat wins. Chris Hettinger was the Wolverine Outlaw Winged Midget fast qualifier and started on the outside of row 3. A.J. Lane and Jeff Kaiser sat on the front row of the 17-car field. Lap one leader was Kaiser with Hettinger making the turn into the pits. Ike Beasley, undefeated in six out of six races, began his march through the field, passing Gary Harrell on the high side and challenging for third by lap eight. With the leaders in traffic, Jake Meyernick made the pass on Kaiser for first. Lap 15 had a great battle for second shaping up between Kaiser and Beasley. Lapped traffic again became a factor with Beasley able to get around Kaiser for second. Meyernick came across the stripe, handing Beasley his first defeat of the season. The B&L Truck Cap Pony Stocks had a 15-car field lined up for the start with Art Kimball and Brent McCort on the front row. At the green, cars were three wide going into turn two with Kimball out to the early lead. Kenny Clark, Trei Deubel, George Mosurak, and TJ Conroy were side by side in a fight for seventh position. Jason Huey inherited the lead on lap five with Kenny Clark driving into the top spot on lap 8, followed by Huey and Deubel, while Scott Sigman and Jimmy Scavarda engaged in a side by side battle for fourth. Clark opened up a half a straight lead as Deubel got around Huey for second. Scavarda closed on Huey and took over the third spot followed by Sigman. It was Clark, Deubel, Scavarda, Sigman, and Huey making up the top five. Heat wins went to Huey and Clark. Please join us July 17th for the fourth in our Six-Pack Shootout for Super Late Models.
